Centuries have passed since the middle ages and yet lack of sex education or effectiveness of its teaching methods has kept people in the dark about reproductive basics. To this day many a woman remains clueless about the reproductive functions of her own body. While each pregnancy is totally and 100% different, in many ways each pregnancy is exactly the same. Here we explore many of the solid truths about pregnancy.
There is no such thing as Immaculate Conception
Pregnancy is achieved only with vaginal sex. Fertilization is not possible with any other phallic entry or with supernatural means. Having sex dreams will not get you pregnant nor will kissing, necking, and other sexual activities that does not include the penetration of the penis into the vagina. It is possible however, to get pregnant if semen is discharged just outside the vaginal opening and they manage to swim into the ovum. It is rare but very possible. As long as a woman is in a fertile state, she is able to conceive. Just because she did not achieve orgasm does not mean she is safe from getting pregnant. Although there are numerous contraceptive methods available, none are perfectly effective. This means that whatever method one uses, artificial or natural, with the exception of abstinence, there is always a chance of getting pregnant.
You Can Not Be “Kinda Pregnant”.
Being pregnant is like being dead. You either are or you’re not. As soon as the sperm of the male fertilizes the ovum, human life is already growing inside the uterus. You can not be kinda pregnant. The line that divides pregnancy and non-pregnancy is as clear as day and night.
Pregnant women! They had that weird frisson, an aura of magic that combined awkwardly with an earthy sense of duty. Mundane, because they were nothing unique on the suburban streets; ethereal because their attention was ever somewhere else. Whatever you said was trivial. And they had that preciousness which they imposed wherever they went, compelling attention, constantly reminding you that they carried the future inside, its contours already drawn, but veiled, private, an inner secret.

The Life of the Fetus Solely Depends on its Mother
The Fetus (the child in the mother’s womb) gets its nutrition and oxygen through its mother’s bloodstream. Smoking, alcohol and drug use risks the chance of having miscarriages, weak fetal health and abnormal brain formations so it is essential to stop drug, alcohol and tobacco use if you want a normal healthy child and childbirth. As the fetus starts to be aware of its existence and its surroundings, he becomes sensitive to his mother’s emotional state. Stressful lifestyles can impact an unborn child. Some experts even suggest relaxation techniques and listening to classical music to help the emotional and mental development your baby.
It Takes Approximately Nine Months before Giving Birth
Choosing to become pregnant takes at least nine months worth of commitment. The would-be mother does not have the option of delaying her pregnancy. Abortion is still unacceptable to most religions and cultures, and always has potentially serious complications especially when done after the first trimester. In countries where it is illegal, the health risks are even higher due to unsafe and unsanitary abortion practices. Aside from the health risks, many believe that women become mentally ill and suicidal after undergoing such procedures but data of such incidences are inconclusive. Regardless, abortion still garners debate among several factions and a woman can only be guided by her personal moral convictions in choosing to undergo such procedures.

Unfortunately, early pregnancy signs can often be very similar to those experienced pre-menstrually. And while some women say they knew as soon as their egg was fertilized, others claim they felt nothing at all until well after their missed period. To confuse matters further, some say they were never more sure their period was just around the corner than when they were actually pregnant. And many women carry on having light periods up to six months into pregnancy. Gettingpregnant.co.uk
The Miracle of Childbirth, fact or myth
A mother can opt to have her deliver through natural or artificial means. The artificial child delivery, also known as a Cesarean delivery, involves the surgical opening of the mother’s womb. Although several styles are available, the healing process is not as fast as a natural delivery and you should only opt for a cesarean delivery as a last result. Several methods have been developed to make childbirth easier for both you and your baby. The Lamaze method uses breathing techniques to supposedly make childbirth easier and allow you to heal faster than the ordinary natural method. Other unconventional child birth includes waterbirth, Hypnobirthing and the silent method as practiced by Scientologists.
The stereotypes of the wonders of motherhood are recently being challenged with growing public awareness of post-partum depression. Celebrities such as Brooke Shields have written books about their unpleasant experiences after child birth. The use of anti-psychotic medications has been a topic for debate among opposing factors.
Pregnancy, from conception to nativity has always been subjected to myth and awe but the most important fact is that it is only the beginning of a mother’s life-long relationship with her
child.
